The first part on astronomy deals with basic topics such as celestial coordinate system, stellar classification schemes, H-R diagrams and massed and radii of stars. The second part on astrophysics includes stellar structure, stellar atmospheres, energy generation in stars and nucleosynthesis. The third part on galactic structure, rotation and cosmology introduces Robertson-Walker metric and Friedman models of the universe, and discusses the present status of Hubble constant and the problems associated with the age of the universe.
